NYC: Underage Girls Can Get The Morning After Pill Without Their Parents Consent But Cannot Buy Large Soft Drinks

Here is a classic example of today's Liberalism for you. A city that wages a war on fat and what people eat is also waging a war against parental rights. Underage girls cannot buy large sugary drinks but they can get morning after pills without their parents knowledge. From Life News:
The New York City Department of Education is furnishing morning-after pills and other birth control drugs to students at 13 city high schools and without parental permission. School nurses supplied with the drugs, which can cause a very early abortion, are dispensing “Plan B” and other oral or injectable birth control to girls as young as 14 without telling their parents — unless the parents opt out of the program after receiving a school letter informing them of the new policy. According to a Fox News report, New York City high schools have supplied free condoms to teens in the past, but this is the first time city schools have given the birth control drugs that come under Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Health, known as CATCH, which is part of a city-wide pregnancy prevention program. The New York Post has more on the situation: It might be a nationwide first as well. The National Association of School Nurses could cite no other school district supplying Plan B. So far, during an unpublicized pilot program in five city schools last year, 567 students received Plan B tablets and 580 students received Reclipsen birth-control pills, the city Department of Health told The Post. This fall, students can also get Depo-Provera, a birth-control drug injected once every three months, officials said. Oral and injectable contraceptives require prescriptions, which, in the CATCH program, are written by Health Department doctors. Plan B is typically sold as an over-the-counter medication, but those under age 18 need a prescription. For the CATCH program, students can tell a trained school nurse they had unprotected sex. The student will then get a test to see if she is already pregnant; if not, the prescription is issued and she can walk out with the pill.
Big government apparently knows best.

Californians Trying To Get Parental Notification On The Ballot In 2012

One of the clearest ways to expose the hypocrisy of feminism as being a philosophy that is about helping women, is by bring up parental notification. Who could possibly be against a minor girl notifying her parents that she is pregnant and wants an abortion? Especially if rape is the reason for the pregnancy. Would not feminists want to stop a little girl from being sexually brutalized and use parental notification to do it? Of course not. We will have a chance to see feminists rally against an attempt to get a parental notification proposition on the ballot here in California. From Life News:
Signatures are currently being gathered to put Parental Notification on the 2012 November ballot for the fourth time in California. In 2008 Parental Notification’s Proposition 4 lost by a very small percentage, 52% to 48%. Parental notification proponents are back this year in full force, but this time they have something that changes the game . . .

In California a minor cannot be given an aspirin by a school nurse, use a tanning bed in a salon, or have a cavity filled without a parent knowing. However, a young lady under the age of 18 can obtain a surgical or chemical abortion without her parent(s) ever being informed. Whether you are pro-life or pro-abortion I believe we can agree that a parent being left ignorant of their child obtaining an abortion is life threatening to young ladies under the age of 18.

I grew up in San Bernardino county where a 24 year old man had been sexually abusing his half sister for years, and when she was 12 she became pregnant. Her abuser (half brother) took her for an abortion where the abortion clinic did not report the sexual abuse case. The parents were never made aware of the ongoing abuse and the half brother continued to live in the house with the girl for four more years until she was finally able to tell her mother what was happening. The abuser was convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison, and the young lady has a life time of pain to deal with. [1]

Now, you may feel a little discouraged about this being the fourth attempt to pass a parental notification law; and I agree that can be discouraging...
Lets get it done this time around.

New Hampshire Passes Parental Notification Law In Spite Of Veto

Great news coming out of New Hampshire as state legislatures have passed a parental notification law in spite of the Governor's veto. From Life News:
The New Hampshire state legislature on Wednesday voted to override Gov. John Lynch’s veto of a pro-life bill requiring abortion businesses to inform parents 48 hours before an abortion on a teenager that she is considering one. The state will now become the 37th to have such a law, which has been proven to help parents and teenagers and stop abortions.

The House overrode the veto by a 266-102 vote; the Senate vote was 17-7 and House speaker William O’Brien said in a statement, “Granite Staters believe in more parental involvement, not less.”

After the veto, the local pro-life group New Hampshire Citizens for Life condemned Lynch.

“Secret abortions on minors is child abuse, and Governor Lynch is imposing that abuse on New Hampshire’s minor girls,” said Citizens for Life President Gail DeMasi. “Governor Lynch has shoved a wedge back in between our daughters and their parents by vetoing the Parental Notification Bill. The bill passed by huge majorities in both chambers of the State Legislature.”

“The Governor says he wants to have an exception for girls who are in abusive situations at home. That simply would send a girl back into continuing abuse after a hasty, quick-fix abortion, DeMasi said. “He wants an exception for rape circumstances. That would cover up the rape from the parents’ knowledge. It also makes the abortionist, and the State, an accomplice after the fact to the rape. What kind of back alley attitude is this? Mr. Lynch would toss our daughters into a heap of emotional distress and drive a wedge between children and their families.”

“Some of the girls taken to abortion facilities are brought in by the adult men who got them pregnant. These men coerce the minors to get secret abortions to cover up statutory rape. This governor is their facilitator,” she added.

Lynch claimed the bill was unclear and too narrow, even though it was written to conform to federal court decisions on what should and should not be included in such a statute. The law would have required abortion practitioners to notify parents of a minor girl considering an abortion and they could have been subjected to a misdemeanor charge if they failed to comply with the law, which requires the notice to be given within 48 hours...
This is common sense legislation that protects young girls from sexual predators. Maybe Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers will no longer be able to hide the rape of underage girls who seek to get abortion.

Parental Notification Bill Passes In The Florida Senate

This common sense legislation that is being passed here. Anyone who opposes something like this is not merely pro-choice but pro-abortion. From Life News:
A Florida state Senate committee passed a bill today that would strengthen the parental notification law voters approved years ago to ensure abortion advocates are not abusing it.

The measure, similar to legislation (HB 1247) a House committee approved in March, relates additional requirements for teenagers when they want to use the Supreme Court-mandated judicial bypass provision meant for rare occasions in which teenagers are concerned about physical abuse at home by revealing their pregnancy to their parents. Abortion businesses have abused the law by judge shopping and finding those who will approve the bypass for any occasion in which a teen merely doesn’t want to inform her parents of her potential abortion.

The bill extends the time a court has to rule on whether a teenager should be allowed to be exempt from the law to investigate the situation more extensively. The bill also eliminates part of the law that indicates the notification requirement is automatically waived if the court does not issue a ruling. And the bill requires teens who do get their parents’ permission to have the permission slip notarized to ensure it is legal.

Bill sponsor Alan Hays told the panel today the bill is needed because it is easier for teens to get an abortion than minor medication at school.

“The state will not allow a school nurse or a school teacher to give that student a Tylenol or an Advil with out parental permission yet they’re willing to let them terminate a pregnancy without parental permission. I just find that completely unacceptable,” said Hays.

The Senate Judiciary committee voted for SB 1770 and Hays said Florida needs to stop “judge-shopping” that happens when abortion centers find activist attorneys looking for judges to approve judicial bypasses instead of following state law and allowing parents to know when their minor daughters are considering a potentially life-threatening abortion.

“I think doctor shopping in the pill mill world is wrong,” Hays said. “I think judge-shopping is wrong.”

The bill was changed as it originally said “a minor may petition any circuit court in a judicial circuit within the jurisdiction of the District Court of Appeal,” but the new version, according to the Florida Independent, restricts access to the “circuit court in which the minor resides for a waiver of the notice.”

Maria Kayanan of the ACLU of Florida told lawmakers the limits are too strict and urged them to oppose the bill...

Planned Parenthood Tolerates Child Prostitution In New York (Video)

Planned Parenthood is concerned about underage girls being forced into prostitution? That is what they would like you to believe but the facts do not support that. Planned Parenthood makes money by killing innocent and defenseless babies. In a new video we see just how far pro-abortion advocates are willing to go in order to cover up real injustice in order to oppress the unborn. From Big Government (there may be some issues playing video, it is also at Weasel Zippers, and Life News):

It was only after Planned Parenthood realized they were busted that they reported this. So what will pro-choice advocates tolerate in the name of abortion? And calling them pro-choice is really too generous, they are pro-abortion. They will tolerate infanticide, statutory rape, and now child prostitution. This is the fruit of Liberalism/Progressivism. What they call themselves does not really matter, the fruit will always be the same: the murder of children.

Feminists Endanger Underage Girls By Opposing Parental Notification In Alaska

Who would have thought that pro-abortion feminists would ever utilize Conservative phrasing to oppose a common sense restriction on abortion? That is exactly what is happening in Alaska as pro-abortion groups converge to oppose an Alaskan ballot on parental notification. Anyone who opposes any and all restriction on abortion is not merely pro-choice but pro-abortion. From Feministing via The American Prospect:
"Voters in Alaska will consider a ballot measure next week that would require a teenage girls' parents to be notified two days before she gets an abortion, unless she goes to court or brings a notarized letter claiming abuse at home.

It is, of course, designed to limit teenage girls' rights, and there's nothing new about this. What does seem new is the name of the group opposing the ballot measure: Alaskans Against Government Mandates. It's not a women's health rights group, it's a group that rightly points out this is a new government mandate that will impinge upon freedom. I've been waiting for some time for conservatives to address the core hypocrisy in their platform: the idea that government regulation is bad unless it involves regulating women's bodies. The group is only organized around this issue and obviously includes abortion-rights activities, but the messaging on the "about" page says this:
We are a rapidly growing coalition of teachers, nurses, doctors, social workers, Planned Parenthood supporters, faith leaders and others who are working to defeat Ballot Measure 2, a dangerous new mandate that puts the government into the middle of our families.
That's a brilliant appropriation of the often successful language conservatives use, and it could only be made better if it were adopted by abortion-rights groups around the country."
I will agree that is a brilliant angle to take. It appears that the only type of government mandate Liberals oppose is one the seeks to defend the most helpless and oppressed class of humanity the world has ever known. They would like to oppress the unborn with impunity, even denying parents their rights to know that their teenage daughter is getting a dangerous medical procedure done without their knowledge. Feminism is a threat to your children and to women in this country, make no mistake about that.

"Safe And Legal" Abortion Lead To A Comatose Woman

It is plan and simple, the "safeness" of abortion is a myth. We know this is true for the unborn baby that is killed but it is time to confront the pro-abortion lobby and sympathizers with the fact that women are in danger as well. A woman in New Jersey has been awarded $1.9 million dollars because a botched abortion made her comatose for a month.
"An abortion business in New Jersey has settled a $1.9 million lawsuit out of court filed by a woman who was comatose for one month following a botched abortion. Metropolitan Medical Associates, based in Englewood, New Jersey and a center that does thousands of abortions annually, was responsible.

Newark resident Rasheedah Dinkins had an abortion in January 2007 at the Metropolitan Medical Associates abortion business that went horribly wrong.

Dinkins, who is now 22, became severely ill following the abortion and was transferred to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where she needed blood transfusions and had her uterus removed. She also suffered a stroke due to the serious blood loss and had one of her lungs collapse.

"I was laying in my bed and I got the cold shakes," Dinkins told AP in March 2007 about her ordeal. "My body kept going numb. After that, I don't remember anything."

"I think it's horrible what I had to go through," she said at the time..."
Remember the recent video of an abortionist claiming that an abortion is safer than actually delivering the baby?

Abortion Providers Claim They Are Doing Sacred Work, Evil Has Become Good; UPDATE: Abortion Is A Blessing Also

"When you come here, bring only love"

The only response to this can come from Scripture:

"Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5:20

UPDATE

For some the news that the pro-choice crowd, which is really pro-abortion, views abortion as a good thing and even a blessing may be shocking. Unfortunately this is rather common. Below are other blogs that have dealt with this.

Your Daughter's School May Help Her Get An Abortion, But She Cannot Protest Abortion At School

It is completely absurd that your daughter can get an abortion without your knowledge, but she cannot protest abortion with your knowledge.

"CAMDEN, N.J. - A New Jersey high school student claims in a federal lawsuit that administrators violated her religious and free-speech rights by prohibiting her participation in a silent abortion protest.

The girl, identified in court papers as C.H., says she asked Bridgeton High School's principal last month for permission to join in the Pro Life Day of Silent Solidarity on Oct. 20.

She planned to remain silent, except when called on in class. She also wanted to wear an armband with the word "life" on it and distribute anti-abortion pamphlets.

School Superintendent H. Victor Gilson says the armband would have violated the school's dress code, and the district doesn't allow students to pass out literature on campus.

Her lawsuit was filed Friday by a lawyer hired by the Alliance Defense Fund in Scottsdale, Ariz."

Democrats want to put Planned Parenthood offices at your child's school and let an underage girl get birth control and even am abortion without your knowledge. They are attacking the family at all stages now.

What Will Governor Meg Whitman Mean For Abortion In California?

I really do not want a Democrat to be the next Governor of California, but if Meg Whitman is a pro-abortion absolutist, then I may not vote for a Governor in 2010. When Feminists For Choice praise Whitman for her views on abortion, that sends red flags up all over the place.

"In doing some research on our candidates for the Governor of California, I began to ponder over the direction of the Republican party, particularly on social issues. Two of my very close friends, who happen to be capital R-republicans, attended John McCain’s endorsement of Republican candidate Meg Whitman this past week in Orange County. They rushed home to give me the news they knew I wanted. She’s pro-choice and proud of it!

I’ll be the first to admit that the news excited me. Despite my distaste with the core objectives of the Republican party, it was great to hear an intelligent and independent woman standing up to a crowd of anti-choice supporters to self-identify as a pro-choice advocate.

And honestly, that’s exactly what Meg Whitman is. A strong, independent, thought-provoking woman who stands as a role model for hard working and dedicated women all over the globe. Meg Whitman is one of only seven women to be consistently ranked among the world’s most influential people by Time Magazine. The Wall Street Journal named her one of the “50 Women to Watch” in 2005; Fortune ranked her the most powerful woman in business in 2004 and 2005; and BusinessWeek has included her on its list of the 25 most powerful business managers every year since 2000..."

Whitman is clearly not voicing her views on the issue from her website as far as I can tell. She may try and slit the difference on social issues by opposing gay marriage, but I think the murder of unborn babies ought to take a prima facie precedent in this case.

An Activist Judge In Illinois Stops Parental Notification

I wonder how parents are reacting to an activist judge's arrogance in assuming that he knows what is better for their daughters in regards to abortion?

"A state judge blocked enforcement of a parental notification law on abortion just hours after a state board approved letting it go into effect. The law would allow parents the right to know when their teenager daughter is considering having an abortion and give them 48 hours to help her find alternatives.

Parents in Illinois have waited for 15 years for a law to go into effect and, earlier Wednesday, a vote from the Illinois' Medical Disciplinary Board made it appear that would happen.

The Illinois legislature approved the law in the 1990s, but it has been held up in court waiting for the Illinois Supreme Court to issue the rules guiding the law's implementation.

After the court did its job, state officials blocked enforcement of the law with a 90-day grace period for abortion centers to became aware of it -- even though similar laws have been on the books in other states for decades.

The board met in Chicago on Wednesday and decided not to extend the grace period further that the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation put in place..."

Jim Wallis Lies About Obama Care Covering Abortion And Babies Die

Liberal "Christian" and writer at Sojourners, Jim Wallis, is advancing the lie that Obama Care will not cover abortion. Wallis does this under the self righteous claim of truth telling in the Obama Care debate. But it has been proven that abortion will be a key part of any Democratic Party approved legislation. The Liberal influence in the Democratic Party will make sure they advance the cause of abortion any way they can. What else are we to expect from pro-abortion absolutists? Even more alarming is that we are now learning that Democrats will seek to provide abortion options to your children while they are at school.

"In Title V of H.R. 3200, Subtitle B, called School-Based Health Clinics, outlines a new federal program where the government would fund health clinics near or in the nation's public schools.

However, Section 399Z indicates that school officials won't be responsible for administering the clinics. Instead, that responsibility falls to the clinic sponsor, which could be Planned Parenthood -- the nation's largest abortion business which does more than 350,000 a year.

The section says "the SBHC sponsoring facility assumes all responsibility for the SBHC administration, operations, and oversight." Under the bill, a "sponsoring facility" is "a hospital, a public health department, a community health center, a nonprofit health care agency, (or) a local educational agency."

Victor Medina, writing in an opinion column for the Dallas Republican Examiner, is worried about the practical effect of the language.

"Such broad wording outlining the qualifications for government funds and access to schoolchildren could open the door for groups like Planned Parenthood to operate the clinics in schools with no oversight and full federal government support," he says.

"The clinics would be funded by federal grants awarded by the Obama administration, which has made it clear that they expect Planned Parenthood to play an active role in their proposed health care system," he says.

Medina says he is not surprised that Planned Parenthood is included in the bill and could be given unprecedented access to teenagers and pre-teens to promote abortion..."

So, no, Mr. Wallis, you are not telling the truth about the centrality of abortion in Obama Care. I guess I should not expect much from someone who already ignored Obama's previous tolerance of outright infanticide as a state Senator.

Planned Parenthood Exposed Again Covering Up The Rape Of Underage Girl

How many more times will Planned Parenthood have to be exposed for covering up the rape of underage girls and infanticide before funds are cut? The pro-life movement should do all it can to encourage Live Action to keep on making videos that expose the truth about Planned Parenthood.

Remember, then candidate Barack Obama made a firm commitment to Planned Parenthood.

It is a sad state in America when the right to kill a baby is used to justify covering up the rape of girls.

More Trouble For Planned Parenthood, I Hope

It should be no surprise that there is another revelation that Planned Parenthood failed to report an instance of child abuse. This is lock, stop and barrel with their world view and to have abortion no matter what the cost to the baby or the woman involved. And in this case, what they thought was a girl. Unfortunately, a President Obama will increase Planned Parenthood's influence and power in America and the world.

Planned Parenthood Hides Child Predators

Is it not enough that Planned Parenthood was started by a Nazi sympathizer but now they help child predators get away with rape? Where are all the "compassionate" Liberals now? I guess since they have already asserted the proposition that it is morally acceptable to kill in the name of compassion, then lying in the name of compassion is much less severe.

Get Out And Vote For California's Proposition 4

It is encouraging to see a slight lead for the yes folks on Proposition 4. I hope this time it will finally pass. Although, if Barack Obama is elected President, it may be a short lived victory since he will sign the Freedom of Choice Act. This would have a disastrous effect on hospitals that value life.

Proposition 4: Parent Notification

For your child to receive an aspirin at school they require a parent signature, makes sense it's a medication. What doesn't make sense is that if you had a daughter who was pregnant her boyfriends mother can take her out of school and schedule her for an abortion. Your signature, approval or opinion does not matter anymore! She can have a surgical procedure without your permission but she can't receive aspirin unless you give written consent. Now don't you think that's crazy! Parental notification requires that parents be informed of the procedure before it happens but it does not mean you have a right to stop it.

This is our 3rd time voting on this issue. Please vote and vote your values! Proposition 4 Parental Notification- Wouldn't you want to know if your daughter was scheduled for an abortion?
