The Danger Of Removing God As The Foundation For Our Value And Rights; What Obama Did

I am cross-posting this from my other blog, Blue Collar Philosophy, since I think it has implications on the issue of abortion. Here is the blog post and then I will say more on it below:

First off, this is a teleprompter speech so I would think careful attention is given to every word that is put on it. This means the dropping of "Creator" was intentional. Second, notice the pause that is inserted in such a way that it seems to replace the time he should be saying "that they are endowed by their Creator":

It was suggested by The Bronze in the comments to put the quote from the Declaration of Independence as a contrast. Here it is:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.."
Now as to the why this was done. Why would a self described "Christian" like President Obama leave out God in a speech that grounds our "inalienable rights"? I think there is an attempt by Obama, the Democrats, and the Liberals/Progressives that support them to replace God with an all powerful State that controls every aspect of our lives and this speech fits well within that framework.

We have indeed been created in the image of God and that makes our lives intrinsically valuable and no arbitrary decision of some Bureaucrat can change that even though they will try with all their might.

"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Genesis 1:26-28

The danger here, no matter how subtle, like leaving out the "Creator" in a speech like this is that the foundation for our rights and ultimately our value will be destroyed. If our value is not grounded in a transcendent God but in a the whimsical and ever changing decrees of the State, then our value is dependent on another person's arbitrary decision about our lives. Abortion is the issue of the day that most powerfully demonstrates this. Passing ObamaCare was not about justice but about control, the power to decide who lives and who dies. Life is sacred but those seeking to change that want to make those who kill innocent life the instruments that do sacred work. God help us.
