Late Term Abortion Doctor Tiller Killed At His Church

News is breaking that late term abortionist George Tiller has been shot and killed today.

"Late-term abortion doctor George Tiller, a prominent advocate for abortion rights wounded by a protester more than a decade ago, was shot and killed Sunday at his church in Wichita, a city official said.

A City Hall official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak about the case told The Associated Press that the 67-year-old doctor was killed Sunday morning at Reformation Lutheran Church.

Police spokesman Gordon Bassham would not confirm the victim's identity pending notification of relatives. He said the shooting occurred at 10:03 a.m. and the gunman fled the scene in a 1993 powder blue Ford Taurus registered in another part of the state.

Bassham said no suspects were in custody. He said it is not clear whether one or more suspects were involved.

Capt. Brent Allred said police were looking for a gunman who fled in a 1993 light blue Ford Taurus registered in Merriam.

Anti-abortion group Operation Rescue issued a statement denouncing the shooting.

Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortions. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades and he was shot and wounded in both arms by a protester in 1993.

He remained prominent in the news in recent years, in part because of an investigation begun by former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, an abortion opponent.

Prosecutors had alleged that Tiller had gotten second opinions from a doctor who was essentially an employee of his, not independent as state law requires, but a jury in March acquitted him of all 19 misdemeanor counts against him.

Abortion opponents also questioned then-Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' ties to Tiller before the Senate confirmed her this year as U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary. Tiller donated thousands of dollars to Sebelius over the years."

Let me unequivocally condemn the action of the person who killed George Tiller. Tiller's action as abortion provider were evil as is the action of the person who shot and killed Tiller. This is exactly the kind thing the Department of Homeland Security can use against those of us in the pro-life community to hinder our efforts to defend the unborn. The pro-life community needs to condemn this action forcefully, even though we will be blamed for Tiller's death.

President Obama Does Not Understand Human Rights

Robert George has a argued forcefully that President Obama shares no "common ground" with true pro-life advocates. For any claim to be pro-life to have any meaning at all it must include opposition to abortion and opposition to those who support abortion. This means that no Christian can support someone like President Obama who is a pro-abortion absolutist.

"The President speaks of human rights, and I do not question his sincerity. But he does not understand the concept of human rights, as Professor Kmiec and I do, to refer to rights—above all the right to life—that all human beings possess simply by virtue of our humanity. For the President, being human is not enough to qualify someone as the bearer of a right to life. Professor Kmiec and I, by contrast, believe that every member of the human family, simply by virtue of his or her humanity, is truly created equal. We reject the idea that is at the foundation of President Obama’s position on abortion and human embryo-destructive research, namely, that those of us who are equal in worth and dignity are equal by virtue of some attribute other than our common humanity—some attribute that unborn children have not yet acquired, justifying others in treating them, despite their humanity, as non-persons, as objects or property, even as disposable material for use in biomedical research.

President Obama knows that an unborn baby is human. He knows that the blood shed by the abortionist’s knife is human blood, that the bones broken are human bones. He does not deny that the baby whom nurse Jill Stanek discovered gasping for breath in a soiled linen bin after a failed attempt to end her life by abortion, was a human baby. Even in opposing the Illinois Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which was designed to assure that such babies were rescued if possible or at least given comfort care while they died, Barack Obama did not deny the humanity of the child. What he denied, and continues to deny, is the fundamental equality of that child—equality with those of us who are safely born and accepted into the human community.

During his campaign for the Presidency, then-Senator Obama was asked by Rick Warren: When does a baby acquire human rights? In reply, the future president did not say, “well it depends on when a baby (or a “fetus”) comes to life, or becomes a human being.” He knows that an unborn baby is alive and human, and he did not pretend not to know. His response to Pastor Warren did seem to express doubt of as to when rights begin, saying that the question was “above his pay grade.” But Obama’s record as an activist, legislator, and now as President makes clear his view that an unborn baby, or even a baby outside the womb like the one discovered in that soiled linen bin by Jill Stanek, possesses no rights that others are bound to respect or that the law should in any way honor. Throughout his political career, Obama has consistently and fervently rejected every form of legislation that would provide unborn babies or children who survive abortions with meaningful protection against being killed. Indeed, he has opposed even efforts short of prohibiting abortion that would discourage the practice, limit its availability, or directly favor childbirth over abortion..."

If anyone who takes their belief that the unborn are created in God's image and has intrinsic value with any seriousness, then they cannot support President Obama or his Administration. Obama's view on abortion necessarily leads to a view of human rights that are purely arbitrary and grounded in the subjective character of human desire not the transcendent character of God who cares deeply about the fatherless.

"If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever. But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless." Jeremiah 7:5-8

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

If the unborn do not epitomize the categories of helpless, oppressed, fatherless, and orphan then I cannot possibly comprehend who could.

Sotomayor Is A Judicial Activists Plain And Simple

President Obama's Supreme Court nominee was expected to be a judicial activist and that is exactly what she is.

“For all the President’s talk of finding ‘common ground,’ this appointment completely contradicts that hollow promise," Americans United for Life president Charmaine Yoest told LifeNews.com. "Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s judicial philosophy undermines common ground."

"She believes the role of the Court is to set policy, which is exactly the philosophy that led to the Supreme Court turning into the 'National Abortion Control Board,' denying the American people the right to be heard on this critical issue," Yoest added.

"This appointment would provide a pedestal for an avowed judicial activist to impose her personal policy and beliefs onto others from the bench, at a time when the Courts are at a crossroad and critical abortion regulations supported by the vast majority of Americans like partial-birth abortion and informed consent laws lie in the balance," Yoest explained.

Adoption Is The Right And Good Choice

Texas Taking The Lead On Adult Stem Cells

A bill could be passed by the Texas state legislators that will prioritize the use of adult stem cells instead of killing the unborn to get embryonic stem cells.

"The Texas legislature is working on a bill that could make it a leader in research using adult stem cells, rather than research that involves killing human embryos.

Medical ResearchTexas already has 30 facilities that are researching adult stem cells or are using adult stem cells to treat patients. Dr. Joe Pojman of the Texas Alliance for Life tells OneNewsNow what the bill will do.

"It creates a consortium of adult stem-cell research institutions in Texas. It creates a Texas Adult Stem Cell Research Consortium," he explains. "That's a big victory because it would enhance and promote adult stem-cell treatments and cures that are already effective in Texas."

The bill would also block another type of research, he says. "No funds would be going to embryonic stem-cell research and, of course, that's the kind of research using embryonic stem cells that is not working," Pojman contends. "It's not saving anyone's lives, and embryonic stem-cell research requires destroying human embryos."

Pojman says adult stem-cell treatments are being used successfully for well over 70 diseases and conditions."

When Abortion Is Viewed As Better Than Adoption, You Are Pro-Abortion

Can we please remove all pretense here and call it what it is? When feminists now argue that it is better to abort than to adopt they are not just pro-choice but pro-abortion.

"I am not a fan of adoption - I've heard far too many horror stories, and I couldn't send my baby out in the world to be raised by someone else who might not be a good parent."

Notice the absurd justification for killing her child, even granting her poor health she cites also. She is concerned the someone else might not be a good parent to her child. And yet killing it is being a good parent? This type of logic is dangerous to us all in that there is no reason it cannot be extended to apply to newborns or anyone dependent on another for sustenance.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

UK Ad Takes Aim At Teen Pregnancy

So what are the best options for teens? Looks like using safe sex practices did not work. I think adoption would be the best case here.

Using President Obama's Notre Dame Remarks To Justify Tolerance Of Slavery

Christians need to be on special guard these days for this Wolf in sheep's clothing is one of the best there has ever been. I can almost not contain my disgust after hearing the section on abortion from President Obama's speech at Notre Dame. You will find the full transcript at Fox News. I put the parts I will be responding to in bold text.

"And of course, nowhere do these questions come up more powerfully than on the issue of abortion.

As I considered the controversy surrounding my visit here, I was reminded of an encounter I had during my Senate campaign, one that I describe in a book I wrote called "The Audacity of Hope." A few days after I won the Democratic nomination, I received an e-mail from a doctor who told me that while he voted for me in the Illinois primary, he had a serious concern that might prevent him from voting for me in the general election. He described himself as a Christian who was strongly pro-life -- but that was not what was preventing him potentially from voting for me."

Anyone who takes their position on abortion seriously could never vote for someone like Obama, who tolerated outright infanticide as a logical consequence of his view.

"What bothered the doctor was an entry that my campaign staff had posted on my website -- an entry that said I would fight "right-wing ideologues who want to take away a woman's right to choose." The doctor said he had assumed I was a reasonable person, he supported my policy initiatives to help the poor and to lift up our educational system, but that if I truly believed that every pro-life individual was simply an ideologue who wanted to inflict suffering on women, then I was not very reasonable. He wrote, "I do not ask at this point that you oppose abortion, only that you speak about this issue in fair-minded words." Fair-minded words."

It needs to be made clear that the pro-abortion absolutist position is purely arbitrary. It is an arbitrary decision and act of will by those in power to decide that the unborn and even newly born are no human persons, that they lack personhood. This is the same thing that was done to justify slavery in America and the Holocaust in Nazi Germany.

"After I read the doctor's letter, I wrote back to him and I thanked him. And I didn't change my underlying position, but I did tell my staff to change the words on my website. And I said a prayer that night that I might extend the same presumption of good faith to others that the doctor had extended to me. Because when we do that -- when we open up our hearts and our minds to those who may not think precisely like we do or believe precisely what we believe -- that's when we discover at least the possibility of common ground.

That's when we begin to say, "Maybe we won't agree on abortion, but we can still agree that this heart-wrenching decision for any woman is not made casually, it has both moral and spiritual dimensions.
"

This exact logic and cold calculated reasoning could be used at those who opposed slavery. I guess the abolitionists should have opened their hearts and minds to those who do not think precisely as they did on eliminating slavery. I can imagine that when King Manasseh and others sacrificed their children to false gods of their age that they experienced a similar "heart wrenching decision" about whether or not to do it.
"So let us work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions, let's reduce unintended pregnancies. (Applause.) Let's make adoption more available. (Applause.) Let's provide care and support for women who do carry their children to term. (Applause.) Let's honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded not only in sound science, but also in clear ethics, as well as respect for the equality of women." Those are things we can do. (Applause.)"

Do not be deceived by the seductive call of accommodation and compromise to the spirit of the age. Funny how pro-abortion absolutists invoke the language of "abortion reduction" while opposes any common sense legislation that does reduce abortion. Radical feminists who run Planned Parenthood view adoption as worse than abortion and view abortion as a good thing.

"Now, understand -- understand, Class of 2009, I do not suggest that the debate surrounding abortion can or should go away. Because no matter how much we may want to fudge it -- indeed, while we know that the views of most Americans on the subject are complex and even contradictory -- the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable. Each side will continue to make its case to the public with passion and conviction. But surely we can do so without reducing those with differing views to caricature.

Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words. It's a way of life that has always been the Notre Dame tradition."

"Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5:20

Now Poll Shows More People Are Now Pro-Life

Some good news for those of use defending the unborn. I hope this continues and is a serious change of opinion.

"A Gallup Poll released Friday found that 51 percent of Americans now call themselves pro-life rather than pro-choice on the issue of abortion, the first time a majority gave that answer in the 15 years that Gallup has asked the question.

The findings, obtained in an annual survey on values and beliefs conducted May 7-10, marked a significant shift from a year ago. A year ago, 50 percent said they were pro-choice and 44 percent pro-life — in the new poll, 42 percent said they were pro-choice."

Kansas Votes To Stop Funding Planned Parenthood

I hope other state legislators follow what they did in Kansas.

"The Kansas legislature has voted to defund Planned Parenthood.

The decision was based, in part, because of investigations of Planned Parenthood by former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline. State Senator Tim Huelskamp led the drive for defunding. "They were charged in the last year with 107 counts of violations of our late-term abortion laws," he points out.

Then, Huelskamp received a recording of a phone conversation a woman had with Planned Parenthood in Overland Park, Kansas. The woman posed as a 14-year-old girl involved in a relationship with a 21-year-old man.Tim Huelskamp

"The Planned Parenthood employee actually suggested, yes, your boyfriend, who is actually the perpetrator of the crime, actually could come in and pick up contraceptives to continue the sexual abuse," the Republican lawmaker adds.

Huelskamp told OneNewsNow the statutory rape should have been reported to police. While both houses of the Kansas legislature voted to defund Planned Parenthood, getting the governor's approval is not guaranteed."

Texas Democrat Seeks To Make Infanticide A Mere Felony

In yet another outrageous affront to morality, a Liberal Democrat in Texas is seeking to make the killing of a baby under one year old a mere felony.

Democrat pro-abortion Catholic state Rep. Jessica Ferrar is pictured holding a Planned Parenthood Public Affairs Award. (Jill Stanek)

A Texas Democrat introduced the "Infanticide Bill" this week.
Cassy Fiano reported on this disgusting bill:

It defines infanticide as:

A person commits an offense if the person wilfully by an act or omission causes the death of a child to whom the person gave birth within the 12-month period preceding the child’s death

The bill says that infanticide should not be prosecuted as murder, though, as long as:

… at the time of the act or omission, the person’s judgment was impaired as a result of the effects of giving birth or the effects of lactation following the birth.

Infanticide would become a felony, punishable by no more than two years in prison, with a minimum of 180 days, and/or a fine of no more than $10,000.

When such a thing can be so brazenly pursued I fear what is likely to come next. Who will stand against this evil and come to the aid of the most defenseless and oppressed class of humanity the world has ever known?

"O LORD, the God who avenges,
O God who avenges, shine forth.

Rise up, O Judge of the earth;
pay back to the proud what they deserve.

How long will the wicked, O LORD,
how long will the wicked be jubilant?

They pour out arrogant words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting.

They crush your people, O LORD;
they oppress your inheritance.

They slay the widow and the alien;
they murder the fatherless.

They say, "The LORD does not see;
the God of Jacob pays no heed."

Take heed, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?

Does he who implanted the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?

Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?

The LORD knows the thoughts of man;
he knows that they are futile.

Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD,
the man you teach from your law;

you grant him relief from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked.

For the LORD will not reject his people;
he will never forsake his inheritance.

Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

Unless the LORD had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

When I said, "My foot is slipping,"
your love, O LORD, supported me.

When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought joy to my soul.

Can a corrupt throne be allied with you—
one that brings on misery by its decrees?

They band together against the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.

But the LORD has become my fortress,
and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

He will repay them for their sins
and destroy them for their wickedness;
the LORD our God will destroy them." Psalm 94

Orange County Stands Up To Planned Parenthood

This is great news and special thanks to the brave women at Live Action for taking on this eugenics based organization. It is not bad enough that Planned Parenthood performs abortions up until the ninth month of pregnancy, but they hide rape and the infanticide of newborns as well. Exposing the truth of Planned Parenthood will defeat any of their arguments and intimidation tactics aimed at their critics. Way to go the Orange County Board of Supervisors for standing up to Planned Parenthood.

WND reported the story of Lila Rose, a college student who, through her Live Action Films ministry, has visited Planned Parenthood facilities around the nation under cover, taking with her a witness and a hidden camera, revealing clinic workers either concealing statutory rape or advising a patient on how to avoid various abortion restrictions.

When California businessman Mark Bucher saw Rose's videos, he sent them to Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach and challenged the board to rethink a grant of nearly $300,000 awarded to Planned Parenthood for "sex education programs."

"I have never gotten riled up about Planned Parenthood getting taxpayer money to do abortions," Bucher told the Los Angeles Times. "I got riled up when I saw that this organization doesn't care about their legal obligation to make sure some 13-year-old girl isn't going to be molested by a 31-year-old man anymore. No matter where you stand on the abortion issue, that ought to bother you."
